Rationale:
Mary Pope Osborne has been one of my favorite authors since I was in middle school. I was introduced to her books through the accelerated reading program at my school and was hooked by the exciting adventures that Jack and Annie took through history. She has written a vast variety of books for children, both fiction and non-fiction. Currently, all of my second grade students are reading her books, which has sparked their interest in non-fiction topics more. As a future educator, I love how Osborne uses non-fiction topics to intrigue readers and get them learning without them even realizing it. I believe her books are great resources to use when introducing a new social studies or science topic. Her love for adventure is apparent in her books and helps keep her readers eager to follow her adventures, page by page.
